7 Tips and Steps to Learn How to Care For a New Tattoo

Monday, June 30th, 2008

One of the first things you should know when getting a tattoo is how to take care of a new tattoo. Lucky for me I had a really good tattoo artist doing my tattoos if not I probably would have messed things up quite a bit and that would have been an unpleasant experience.

On one of my first pieces I used way too much ointment and drew a lot of the ink out of the new tattoo. I had to go in for some touch up work and go through the pain, again.

Any reliable tattoo shop and their artists will give you instructions on tattoo after care. Be sure you follow them properly. You really would not want to go through all that pain and then have something go wrong. Most artists will do touch up work for you, but it is certainly unnecessary pain.

Here are some tips and steps for how to care for a new tattoo

Keep the bandage over the new tattoo for several hours. After that remove the bandage covering the tattoo and do not re-bandage it. This allows the air to dry it and start the healing process.

Wash the new tattoo gently with an antibacterial soap. Do not scrub or use too much pressure. Make sure to rinse the area of any blood, bodily fluids, and soap. Do this every couple hours until the oozing stops.

After washing your new tattoo, apply a healing ointment to the area. Vitamin D ointment is highly recommended. Just don’t put too much. You’ll want to do this several times a day.

In addition to the ointment, or after several days of using just the ointment, begin moisturizing the tattooed area several times a day. Make sure to use an unscented and alcohol free moisturizer. This will help with the itching as the tattoo heals.

Avoid long baths, hot tubs, pools or any other prolonged exposure to water. Showers are fine, but again do not scrub the area vigorously or keep it soaking in water. If the tattoo is on your hand or wrist, avoid washing dishes for a prolonged period (lucky you!)

Avoid the sun. The sun can always do damage to your new tattoo, but especially so when your new tattoo is still healing. You do not want to dry out the healing tattoo area and definitely don’t want to get a sunburn. Always make sure to use a generous amount of sun block on your tattoo or your tattoo will fade.

Never pick or scratch the tattooed area, even (and especially) if it scabs up or some skin peels away. Allow the tattoo to fully heal on its own.

In general, use common sense when taking care of your new tattoo. Treat your tattoo like you would most other open wounds on your body. Wash it, moisturize it, keep it clean and avoid exposure to water and sunlight. Follow the above tips and you and your tattoo will end up well preserved, perfectly healed and you will be perfectly healthy.

The living room is the room that takes up the most of our time when it’s time to redecorate. The main furniture components consist of sofas, chairs, loveseats, end tables, coffee tables, console tables and lighting. With the perfect combination of these items, your living room will be both functional and aesthetically appealing. Furnishing your living room may seem like a simple process of purchasing a bunch of furniture and having a complete room. There’s more to having the perfect room than just that. You have to make sure you don’t overcrowd your living room with furniture that’s too large or by purchasing too many pieces. When a room is overcrowded, it only looks cluttered, regardless of how beautiful the furniture may be.

Sofa Tables

The living room is one room of the house where families seem to gather to spend quality time together. So, are the sofa tables in your living room living up to their potential?

Sofa tables are the center of many activities in your living room and even other rooms throughout your home as well. But, today we’ll focus on the just what you could do with one in your living space. Placed, as the name indicates, by the sofa, one can quite possibly be the most used piece of furniture in your living room. During the day, it may serve only as to display a decorative vase, or perhaps a candlescape.

At the end of the day, though, as family members drift in to collect together in the living room, this furnishing takes on a new significance. Young children may work on their homework at one, just by putting a chair behind it. Teens may use it as a place to put down a drink as they talk animatedly on the phone to their friends. While entertaining friends, sofa tables can be used as a central snack table, holding plates of hors d

A chain saw is a motorized, portable mechanical saw that is used in logging activities such as limbing, bucking and felling. A chain saw is a motorized, portable mechanical saw that is used in logging activities such as limbing, bucking and felling. Such activities like removing branches and foliage in order to fell trees and snags assist in cutting firebreaks, harvesting firewood, and suppressing wild land fires.

These chainsaws have been developed as tools and as a type of chainsaw art with specially designed blades. It was developed by Stihl as an Easy2Start, or ErgoStart in Europe. Hence, this system uses a type of spring in order to surmount the compression of the engine which usually starts on one pull. Manual chain saw is cheaper than the gasoline powered and electric motor saw. A gasoline powered chain saw consists of a small two-stroke gasoline combustion engine, a long metal frame alloy and the cutting chain itself.

Through the ingenuity of a German orthopedist named Bernard Heine, the first chain saw was made around 1830. The astrodome, as what he called it, had chainlinks that carried small cutting teeth, particularly since the edges were set at an angle. During this time, this was used for cutting bones.

Joseph Buford Cox and Andreas Stihl were among the two important contributors to the modern chain. They latter developed and patented a chainsaw in 1926. Thus, in the year 1929, a gasoline powered chainsaw, plus a company to produce it.

A Day in the Life of a Celebrity Personal Assistant

Monday, June 30th, 2008

I’m a celebrity personal assistant. People often ask me, “What’s a typical day look like in the life of a personal assistant?” The answer is emphatically, without question, a definite, positive: there is no typical day! Each and every day is unique to itself. For example, one day you can be setting up a photo shoot for your celebrity, arranging for stylist, hair and makeup people, and the photographer all to converge at a certain time and place. The next day you can be calling the Oprah Winfrey show to explain that the private jet carrying your star will not be landing in Chicago due to a tornado warning but your celebrity will be at the taping of the show on time no matter what. Or you may just spend a day waiting for the telephone company to repair a television at the star’s summer home. I remember the time line I was once given from AT&T was: we’ll be there sometime between 8:00 am and 8:00 pm. Are they serious?

But being a celebrity personal assistant obviously has its perks too. I’ve ridden in more limousines and planes than I can count. I’ve hobnobbed with other famous people at lunches, dinners and events because they were hobnobbing with my famous person. I’ve been to the Academy Awards (that’s where the little golden statue called The Oscar is bestowed on a chosen few). I’ll never forget my husband at the time calling a friend to find out where to rent a tuxedo. “We’re going to the Academy Awards,” he said. His friend replied, “What do you need a tux for if you’ll just be sitting on the bleachers outside?” “We’re going inside,” he gloated.

And the hand-me-downs are often quite wonderful too. Many assistants I know have been given designer clothes, shoes, handbags, nice gifts they’ve received and didn’t want to keep like candles and holders, paperweights, picture frames, silk wall hangings, etc. I often take beautiful bouquets of flowers home to enjoy because my boss will out of town and not there to appreciate them.

But being a celebrity personal assistant isn’t all roses and Chanel sunglasses. The job has its hazards and roadblocks to maneuver around too. Insert name of derailed celebrity here, such as, oh I don’t know, let’s say Britney Spears?

The key to finding success in this job is to understand the job title. Celebrity. Okay this is pretty straight forward. Anyone who is recognized in their field as a household name is a celebrity. Assistant. Most agree that this describes a helper, supporter and often a secretary. Personal. Ah. This is where the job title gets tricky. Personal means working in the celebrity’s home. Interacting with everyone in their world on a day to day, personal level. Being the confidante to the celebrity. Being one of the few people in the world to see the good, the bad, and the ugly side of a person. Being in a relationship with the celebrity, almost like a marriage, for better or worse.

Being a celebrity personal assistant is both exhilarating and sometimes exhausting. Most don’t receive phone calls in the middle of the night or on weekends from their boss. Most people don’t go home every night having just dealt with their employer’s goofy friends, stressed out relatives, hyper children, and neurotic pets, all the while handling the celebrity’s needs and desires for the day, and maybe getting some real work done in the process.

Most people aren’t as crazy as I am. Take it or leave it, I’m a celebrity personal assistant, and I love it.
